Brazilian new rave icons CSS are set to embark on their first UK tour in 11 years to celebrate their 20th anniversary. The group, comprised of Lovefoxxx, Ana Rezende, Carolina Parra, and Luiza Sá, haven’t toured fully since releasing their 2013 album ‘Planta’. The reunion tour will feature the hits of the group, with Lovefoxxx stating that it is a chance to be nostalgic. While the group had made demos for a new album in 2019, they have said that the tour is just a party, and there are currently no plans for new music. Tickets will be available from Monday, February 26th.
Lovefoxxx spoke to NME and said that the reason for the group’s long-lasting legacy and influence is their spontaneity, which she says is timeless. The energy and spirit of the group can be heard in many modern girl bands, with Chai from Japan being one of them. Lovefoxxx says that the group’s fans are delicate people, often shy and creative, and that they are proud of representing this basic need for fun, creativity, and spontaneity.
The group’s highlights from their 00s heyday include playing with Gossip at Roadhouse in Manchester, meeting idols like Peaches and playing with New Young Pony Club on the NME Indie Rave Tour, which also featured Klaxons and The Sunshine Underground. CSS has played all over the world, including in Russia and Casablanca.
The tour will be nostalgic for Lovefoxxx, who will soon turn 40. She looks forward to seeing how the energy translates. CSS played a show in December in Primavera Sao Paulo, and Lovefoxxx noticed that she had much more energy since she’s healthier now and doesn’t drink as much. She is excited to see how the UK audience will react as she’s never seen a moshpit as crazy. She says that the UK always goes beyond, and she’s excited to see that energy again.
