Former Fifth Harmony member Normani has announced her debut solo album, ‘DOPAMINE’. The announcement was made on social media where she posted its cover art, featuring her seated on a rocket. In follow up posts, she confirmed that the album will be released sometime this year. She did not, however, reveal a concrete release date. Along with the album announcement, Normani also shared a snippet of a song from the upcoming record.
Normani’s album announcement comes shortly after she began teasing the release of the record. The singer stated in January that the new album is “literally the best music she’s ever made”. Speaking to Deadline Hollywood at Sundance, she mentioned, “I want this project to come out more than, literally, anybody. But, it’s literally the best music I’ve ever made and I could not be more proud.”
Normani first rose to fame as part of the girl group Fifth Harmony that was formed with the help of Simon Cowell on The X Factor US. The group enjoyed huge success, releasing five platinum singles and three top five Billboard 200 albums before they went on an indefinite hiatus in 2017. Normani’s debut solo single ‘Motivation’ followed in 2019, which was co-written by Ariana Grande and has since gone platinum in the US.
Since then, Normani has collaborated with Megan Thee Stallion on ‘Diamonds’, a track from the soundtrack for the DC movie Birds Of Prey, and featured on Cardi B’s sultry ‘Wild Side’. Normani also collaborated with Calvin Harris on ‘Next To You’, a funk-inspired track featuring Tinashe and Offset. In 2021, she released her second-ever solo single ‘Fair’. Her highly anticipated album is sure to excite fans worldwide
