Northern Irish rap group Kneecap reveals their upcoming debut album “Fine Art” is set for release on June 14 on Heavenly Recordings. The album features 12 tracks that are packed with English and Irish satire and “socially conscious lyrics”. The trio has worked with English producer Toddla T to create the album. The first single, “Sick in the Head,” was born out of the group’s creative struggle.
Mo Chara, Móglaí Bap, and DJ Próvaí, the three members of the Belfast-based group, have described the project as a “thought-provoking” one that aims to bring their listeners to their world. They collaborated with producer Toddla T who suggested an imaginary community pub in Belfast named “The Rutz” to tell the story of Kneecap.
Featuring on the album will be Radie Peat of Lankums, Grian Chatten of Fontaines D.C., and Jelani Blackman. However, the trio faces political woes as their arts council funding application was revoked at the last minute, which the group claims was an attempt to curb their political views.
