The late Avicii has a posthumous remix release of ‘Beautiful Drug’. It was first written and performed by the Zac Brown Band in 2015 and after the release, Avicii, whose real name was Tim Bergling, remixed the single, however, it was put “in the vault” for the past nine years. The track has finally been released this year, six years after Avicii’s tragic passing.
Before the release, the Zac Brown Band made a statement on their social media accounts regarding the remix. They said, “Before Avicii’s passing, he and I worked together on a song called ‘Broken Arrows’. And in return, he promised to do a remix on one of my songs.” The remix has been called “very special” to the band, who has been a big advocate of sharing a message of positivity and the power of music.
Avicii was known for his musical talents and had been nominated for a Grammy award as a DJ and producer. He passed away in 2018 from suicide at the age of 28, and his parents subsequently created The Tim Bergling Foundation in his memory. The foundation specializes in supporting people and organizations working in the field of mental illness and suicide prevention.
Previously, in an interview, Avicii’s father Tim Klas called for more mental health support for new artists in the music industry. Klas noted that fame and fortune were “a very dangerous combination” and that “a serious discussion couldn’t hurt”. In February of last year, official footage from Avicii’s final show was shared on his YouTube page. Most recently, Avicii’s debut album ‘True’ (2013) celebrated its 10th anniversary, with the release of previously unseen tour and studio videos.
