During Sunday night’s BAFTA Film Awards ceremony, a YouTuber gatecrashed the stage without anyone noticing. The incident took place during the final speech of the evening after Oppenheimer was announced as the winner of Best Film. The film’s director Christopher Nolan, producer Emma Thomas, and lead actor Cillian Murphy were all on stage to accept the prize. However, there was another man present who had no connection to the film whatsoever.

The uninvited guest was later identified as the YouTuber Lizwani, who has a history of gatecrashing other events including the BRIT Awards, the FIFA Ballon D’Or, and British Fashion Awards. BAFTA has taken the incident seriously and issued a statement saying that the prankster had been removed from the stage by security. Oppenheimer was the biggest winner of the night, taking home seven awards including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actor. Poor Things came in second with five wins, followed by The Zone of Interest with three.

During his acceptance speech, Nolan thanked those who fight for nuclear disarmament. He noted that in the real world, there are individuals and organizations who have worked tirelessly to reduce the number of nuclear weapons and acknowledged their efforts. Additionally, Sophie Ellis-Bextor gave a performance of her hit song ‘Murder on the Dancefloor’ after its resurgence in popularity due to its recent appearance in the final scene of Saltburn
