Shakira announces first album in seven years, ‘Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran’

Colombian singer Shakira has announced that she will soon be releasing her 12th studio album. Titled Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran, the LP features 16 unique tracks, including seven previously-released singles such as Copa Vacía, TQG featuring Karol G, and Te Felicito with Rauw Alejandro. The album’s title translates roughly to “Women Don’t Cry Anymore, They Invoice,” and was inspired by a lyric from Shakira’s track Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53.

According to a press statement she made regarding the upcoming record, the process was “alchemical.” In the act of writing each song, Shakira found she was rebuilding herself. The emotions she poured into the music on the album are experiences she transformed into creativity. “While singing them, my tears transformed into diamonds, and my vulnerability into strength,” the singer said.

Earlier this week, Shakira shared a teaser video on Instagram, which showcased clips from some of her latest music videos. The diamond-centric video began with a close-up of the sparkling gem before teasing the album.

In a recent interview with Billboard, the music icon discussed why it took so long between releases. The ‘Whenever, Wherever’ singer explained that being a single mother and pursuing a popstar career can sometimes be tough to manage.

“When you don’t have a husband who can stay home with the kids, it’s constant juggling because I like to be a present mom and I need to be there every moment with my children: take them to school, have breakfast with them, take them to play dates. And aside from that, I have to make money,” she shared.
