St. Vincent has revealed some exciting news for Foo Fighters fans. The singer-songwriter has confirmed that Dave Grohl, the band’s frontman, has made an appearance on her new album. St. Vincent has described the forthcoming LP as “psychotic” and “post-plague pop”. Cate Le Bon will also feature on the record, which is being produced by Jack Antonoff.
Regarding the sound of the album, St. Vincent shared that it features “lots of guitars” and ’70s and ’80s analogue synths. She also noted that it sounds urgent and caustic, with lots of intentional sonics. One song on the album is inspired by feelings of narcissism and paranoia. These emotions have been exacerbated by post-Covid malaise, according to St. Vincent.
Despite its dark tone, St. Vincent sees her new record as a clarifying force. “Loss and death are very clarifying things, they make everything that doesn’t fucking matter go away,” she says. St. Vincent also confirmed that Joshua Freese is among the group of musicians contributing to the album, which follows 2021’s Daddy’s Home.
Finally, Nile Rodgers has also recently confirmed that he’s working on new music with St. Vincent. Earlier this month, the latter performed a version of ‘Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God)’ to honour Kate Bush’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
