Rough Trade is gearing up for another record-breaking Record Store Day this coming Saturday, April 20th. The day is renowned for its exclusive limited edition vinyl and live music performances, and Rough Trade is promising a great selection from the likes of Blur, Olivia Dean, Young Fathers, Sinéad O’Connor, Talking Heads, Laufey, Paramore, Pulp, The 1975 and many more. Fans are encouraged to hit “Notify Me” on their favorite titles on roughtrade.com to be the first to know about their availability online and help staff place accurate orders.
The event is also known as an opportunity to support local communities and independent music retailers, which Rough Trade has been doing since the event began. According to one staff member, the day is “always a huge day, both for our customers and our staff,” and participants can expect a vibrant atmosphere. This year, Rough Trade has planned a personal shopping service as store access will be limited, and staff will assist with obtaining selections for customers.
On the day, stores will open at 8 am, and shoppers should be ready to balance patience with promptness to ensure everyone’s needs are efficiently met. Like other stores that participate in Record Store Day, Rough Trade asks that shoppers respect the one-copy-per-person policy and prohibits multiple purchases of the same release. There are also several “Golden Tickets” hidden in the racks, offering winners great prizes such as pairs of tickets to the Wide Awake festival at Brockwell Park in London.
Finally, in support of their charity partner, CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably), Rough Trade is putting together a prize package to be awarded to a lucky winner. CALM is a team that specializes in suicide prevention and increased mental health awareness which is an important initiative Rough Trade and supports.
