Avon and Somerset Police have opened a murder investigation after a 16-year-old boy was fatally stabbed by two people in masks in Rawnsley Park, Bristol. The victim ran to Stapleton Road and was assisted by a motorist before collapsing and dying at the scene on West Street. Police have declared a critical incident after being called to the scene at 6 pm GMT. The victim’s formal identification has not yet taken place, but the police have informed his family.
The force stated that the attack was a “stark reminder” of the “horrific impact” of knife crime on communities. Superintendent Mark Runacres expressed condolences to the victim’s family and said his thoughts were with them during this unimaginable difficulty. He stated the force would “keep an open mind” but said there was no apparent evidence to link this incident to other recent ones in the city.
Mayor Marvin Rees expressed his condolences to the homicide victim’s family, stating that their loss was “tragic news.” He said that the city would make every effort to help the authorities and the local community as they probe the murder and support the family. The police cordon on West Street has been lifted, although one remains in Rawnsley Park, and police patrols will be increased while officers continue their investigation. Finally, a post-mortem examination will take place soon, according to the police.

In October 2019, 21-year-old Mohammed Abdullah Al Araimi was stabbed to death by unknown assailants on the corner of King William Street and Adelaide Street in Bristol.
