Pop icon Beyoncé has revealed details of her forthcoming album ‘Act II’ and released two standout tracks ahead of its release. The announcement accompanied a commercial that aired during the Super Bowl, in which she was seen attempting to still Verizon’s service with a series of tried-and-tested “firsts”. The ad ended with the words “Drop the new music”, and shortly afterwards, she posted a video to her Instagram account revealing details of the record. It featured Beyoncé driving a taxi with the number plate reading “Texas HOLD’EM”, while yodelling music played on the radio.
The new album has two surprise country-tinged singles, ’16 Carriages’ and ‘Texas Hold ‘Em’, which show Beyoncé is extending her sound in an interesting direction. Fans already speculated that she was working on a country album, which this latest release confirms. The much-anticipated album is due to hit stores on March 29.
Meanwhile, at the Super Bowl, American rapper Post Malone gave a special acoustic performance to start off the game, joined by singer Usher, who brought out H.E.R., Ludacris, will.i.am, and Alicia Keys, during the Halftime Show. Elsewhere, Taylor Swift, Ice Spice, Blake Lively, and Lana Del Rey cheered on boyfriend Travis Kelce to victory. The Chiefs won 25-22 for the second consecutive year, winning the Super Bowl.
Finally, during the event, several trailers for upcoming movies were premiered. Deadpool and Wolverine were reunited on a teaser for the upcoming film, ‘Deadpool 3’. The trailer for ‘Wicked: Part One’ gave audiences a first glimpse at Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo as the witches of Oz. ‘Twisters’ also spun out on the night with a sneak preview of the sequel to the 90s film, ‘Twister’
