British rock band Blur has announced the release of two films, documenting its comeback in 2023. The films have been added to the European Film Market slate by UK sales and distribution company, Altitude, and will be released in cinemas in Ireland and the UK later in the year. The first of the two films, directed by Toby L. and produced by Josh Connolly through UK production company Up The Game, is a feature-length documentary that details the band’s latest comeback. The documentary follows the recording and release of Blur’s first album in eight years, “The Ballad of Darren”.
The other film is a concert movie titled “Blur: Live at Wembley Stadium” that captures the band’s emotional and monumental live performances of two massive headline shows last summer at the iconic stadium in London. The two films will include never-before-seen footage and will be released in cinemas later in the year. Up The Game, which has previously worked on other popular music documentaries like “Liam Gallagher: Knebworth 22,” “Olivia Rodrigo: Sour Prom,” and “Foals: Rip Up The Road,” has produced both films.
Blur’s return in 2023 saw the band perform across UK, Ireland, Europe, Japan, and South America. Late last year, frontman Damon Albarn announced the end of Blur once again, but the band has since been confirmed to perform at both editions of Coachella 2024. Additionally, Blur’s latest album, “The Ballad of Darren,” has been nominated for three BRIT Awards including “Album of the Year,” “Group of the Year,” and “Alternative/Rock Act.” The 2024 BRIT Awards ceremony is set to take place on March 2.
Blur fans eagerly await the release of the two films directed by Toby L. and produced by Up The Game, which are expected to provide a behind-the-scenes look at the band’s incredible comeback in 2023. The release dates for the two films have not yet been announced, but they are expected to delight devoted fans and draw new listeners to the band’s iconic sound
