Legendary rock band The Cure have announced a special reissue of their beloved live album, ‘Paris’, in honor of its 30th anniversary. The new release includes two previously unreleased tracks that were recently discovered by the band. The album has also been remastered by Robert Smith and Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios. Fans can pre-order the record starting today via this link. There will be both 2LP and 1CD versions available.
‘Paris’ is the second of two live albums documenting the band’s 1992 tour in support of their ninth album ‘Wish’. The first album, ‘Show’, was released in September 1993 and was reissued in July last year. The 14-track album was recorded live over three nights at Le Zénith de Paris in October 1992. One of the album’s previously unheard tracks, ‘Shake Dog Shake’, has been released alongside the announcement, while the other unreleased song, ‘Hot Hot Hot!!!,’ will appear on the album.
Half of the recording royalties from the sale of ‘Paris’ will go to the Red Cross and Red Crescent movement. Last year, The Cure surpassed touring records in the U.S. and Canada, with frontman Robert Smith advocating for lower ticket prices. Fans are eagerly waiting for news of the band’s upcoming 14th album, ‘Songs Of A Lost World’.
Smith recently spoke to NME earlier this year, revealing that the follow-up to 2008’s ‘4:13 Dream’ would be called ‘Songs Of A Lost World’. “It’s got artwork, it’s got a running order, it’s almost done!” he explained at the time. The band has since showcased a range of new as-yet-unreleased tracks on tour, including ‘And Nothing Is Forever’, ‘Alone’, ‘Endsong’, ‘I Can Never Say Goodbye’, and ‘A Fragile Thing.’
Despite its 30-year history, ‘Paris’ remains as relevant and thrilling an album as ever, and the reissue is sure to excite fans and newcomers alike
