American musician T-Pain has revealed that he has written country songs but did not take credit for them due to the racism he faced after doing so. In a recent TikTok video, T-Pain said: “Good music is good music. I don’t give a f***k where it comes from or what style it comes in.” He added that he had stopped taking credit for his country tracks and said “the racism that comes after it is just like, ‘I’ll just take the check. Don’t put me on that sh*t. I’ll just take the check, bro. Nevermind, dude’.”
Although T-Pain did not reveal the names of the artists he had written country songs for, he confirmed during an interview with The Breakfast Club that he had worked with Taylor Swift, Luke Bryan, Rhett Akins and Dallas Davidson when he lived in Nashville for two years. “I’ve written a lot for a lot of very important country artists”, he said.
Meanwhile, T-Pain recently revealed via social media that he once wrote and produced a collaboration with Michael Jackson and Usher, which was eventually shelved. He also features in this year’s line-up for the Lovers & Friends festival, which will take place in Las Vegas this May. The festival will also see performances from Janet Jackson, Lil Wayne, Snoop Dogg and Ciara.
T-Pain will also kick off his first Las Vegas residency at the Zouk Nightclub and Ayu Nightclub later this month. In an Instagram post, he expressed his excitement at realising his dream of having a residency of his own and promised “some special surprises up [his] sleeve
