Paramore react to historic Grammy win: “Ridiculous yet true”

Paramore has become the first female-fronted band to win Best Rock Album at the 2024 Grammy Awards. The Tennessean trio won the prize for their 2023 album ‘This Is Why’, beating bands such as Foo Fighters, Greta Van Fleet, Metallica, and Queens of the Stone Age. With this achievement, Paramore joins solo female artists Alanis Morrissette and Sheryl Crow who previously won the award in the ’90s. Speaking on their historic win, Paramore shared that “It’s an honor for Paramore to be a small but constant reminder for people to keep pushing these rock and alternative spaces to be more inclusive.” They further added that “Turns out, our win for Best Rock Album was a historic feat as we are the first female-fronted band to ever take home a trophy for this category. Ridiculous yet true!”

In a second post, the band members thanked their fans and team, stating that they enjoyed the night while “sitting together in Zac’s living room, dressed in our regular clothes.” In their statement, the band thanked their fans and supporters and expressed their pride in finishing their deal with Atlantic Records. Last month, the band voiced uncertainty about their future after fulfilling their obligations to Atlantic Records.

Recently, Paramore shared their cover of Talking Heads’ ‘Burning Down The House’ as part of an upcoming Talking Heads tribute album, featuring Lorde, The National, Girl In Red, and more. The project was first announced last month when A24 confirmed that the album was on the horizon, featuring 16 artists sharing their own covers of Talking Heads classics
