Streaming giant Netflix has announced its lineup of upcoming Korean shows and movies that are set to premiere on the platform in the year 2024. The slate includes 25 shows, with a mix of original scripted content, acquired series, and new unscripted shows. According to the announcement made on February 6th, subscribers can look forward to brand-new seasons of fan-favorite series such as Sweet Home, Hellbound, Gyeongseong Creature and the highly-anticipated second season of Squid Game. These will be accompanied by hit unscripted shows like Physical: 100 season 2, Single’s Inferno season 4, and Zombieverse season 2.
Alongside original series productions, viewers can also expect shows based on popular IPs, such as webtoon adaptations The 8 Show and Chicken Nugget, and Parasyte: The Grey, a Korean version of Hitoshi Iwaaki’s famous manga series. The array of original scripted shows to debut on Netflix in 2024 also includes high school K-drama titled Hierarchy, thriller The Frog mystery, and political drama The Whirlwind. Gong Yoo, who stars in the Squid Game, will also lead his upcoming series, The Trunk.
The streaming platform is set to release four original movies in 2024, including Uprising, Officer Black Belt, The Great Flood, and My Name is Loh Kiwan. Park Chan-wook will direct Uprising while Song Joong-ki will star in My Name is Loh Kiwan.
Non-original Netflix-produced movies set to feature on the platform include Resident Playbook, a spin-off of Hospital Playlist, and Queen of Tears, which stars Kim Soo-hyun. As of now, K-dramas Doctor Slump and Captivating the King are currently available for streaming on the platform.
