Kerry King slams Slayer’s Dave Lombardo as “dead to me”

Former bandmate of Slayer, Kerry King, spoke out against drummer Dave Lombardo, calling him “dead to me” in a recent interview with Rolling Stone. Lombardo was fired from the band in 2013 during a financial disagreement. King recounted the incident, saying that Lombardo threw him “under the bus” during a tirade on a flight to Australia. King had fought to keep Lombardo in the band, but the drummer’s actions led to his eventual removal.

Although King has no remaining ties to Lombardo, the drummer still works in various other bands like Fantômas, Dead Cross, Mr. Bungle, Misfits, and Empire State Bastard. Lombardo recently worked with Empire State Bastard on their extreme metal album, showcasing his skills and understanding of what the band was trying to accomplish with their work.

Despite Lombardo’s successes outside of Slayer, King doesn’t have any interest in reconciling with his former bandmate. Lombardo was influenced by an attorney who made him believe that the band had more money than they actually did, leading to his financial demands, according to King. The guitarist believes that people should speak with those who know the actual situation before making demands and decisions based on misguided information.

Slayer has since disbanded, with their last release being a film called The Repentless Killology in 2019. The film received mixed reviews for its graphic violence, political imagery, and questionable content. Meanwhile, Empire State Bastard will be joining Sleep Token for a 21-date tour that kicks off on April 27th at the Sick New World festival in Las Vegas. The tour will take the band throughout the US and Canada, showcasing their music and heavy metal sound
