The collaborative efforts of Flowdan, Fred again.., and Skrillex have earned them their very first GRAMMY Award for their single ‘Rumble’ in 2023. The trio was awarded the Best Dance/Electronic Recording, beating out major contenders like James Blake, Aphex Twin, Disclosure, and Romy. The track is unique in that it features the words of Jamaican-American rapper BEAM, and the often unacknowledged vocals of US singer Elley Duhé. The win marks the first time Skrillex has won a GRAMMY with Flowdan and Fred again.., and his ninth in total.
‘Rumble’ was up for the award alongside other top contenders like Disclosure’s ‘Higher Than Ever Before’, Aphex Twin’s ‘Blackbox Life Recorder 21f’, James Blake’s ‘Loading’, and Fred again..’s collaboration with Romy, ‘Strong’. Fred again.. also took the Best Dance/Electronic Album award for his 2022 record ‘Actual Life 3 (January 1 – September 9 2022)’, and was nominated for Best New Artist. The Chemical Brothers, Skrillex, Kx5, and James Blake were also nominated for the same award.
