During her performance at the 2024 Grammys In Memoriam segment, Annie Lennox called for a ceasefire in Palestine. The star delivered a rendition of Sinead O’Connor’s ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ as part of the tribute. Lennox raised one arm at the conclusion of the song and stated, “Artists for a ceasefire. Peace in the world,” before leaving the stage.

Stevie Wonder began the segment by performing a version of his own hit, ‘For Once In My Life,’ which he duetted with a video recording of his late friend, Tony Bennett. Wonder also sang ‘The Best Is Yet To Come’ in memory of Bennett. Following Wonder’s performance, Jon Batiste concluded the In Memoriam section with renditions of Bill Withers’ ‘Ain’t No Sunshine’ and Sound Of Blackness’ ‘About Optimistic.’

Elsewhere at the 2024 Grammys, Boygenius confirmed that they were about to go on hiatus. Tracy Chapman joined Luke Combs for their first joint performance and SZA, the most-nominated artist at the event, performed her songs ‘Snooze’ and ‘Kill Bill,’ bringing Tarantino vibes to the Grammys stage. Miley Cyrus gave the first televised performance of her hit single ‘Flowers,” Taylor Swift announced a new album, ‘The Tortured Poet’s Department,’ and U2 took the audience inside their Las Vegas Sphere residency.

Killer Mike also won three trophies at the premiere ceremony and seemingly responded to AndrĂ© 3000’s comments about being too old to rap. However, the rapper was reportedly arrested shortly after his wins. The ceremony continued throughout the evening, with new and iconic artists taking the stage and providing audiences with entertaining performances
