DJ/producers Will Hofbauer and Sangre Voss have joined forces to create a new label known as whirm. Along with the announcement, the duo unveiled their debut single, ‘Uka,’ which is a hybrid of club-ready beats and percussion. The single also has vocal chops, broken down drumbeats, and an undercurrent of rumbling low-end. The track has already received support from the likes of Ben UFO, who played it beginning in January.
Will and Sangre Voss talked about the contents of their collaboration and the origins of whirm in a statement given to Mixmag. They mentioned that after creating several tracks in various basements and bedrooms, they decided to create their own label. The concept of the music, along with the label’s aesthetic, followed organically, they said. Rupert Clervaux is the reason they can take credit for the music’s sound, they mentioned. La Princesa Maria, who created the amazing artwork, received a huge shoutout from the duo.
The duo promised to release more tracks and hope that they will find their way to audiences around the world. They said they are excited to let the whirm wriggle free of its source at last. In addition, the label has stated that more tracks will be forthcoming. ‘Uka’ is already available on whirm, and fans can already listen to it online
