Adele Springsteen, the mother of iconic musician Bruce Springsteen, has passed away at the age of 98. The musician himself confirmed the news on social media, sharing a clip of him dancing with his mother, taken before her passing. The two were seen dancing to Glenn Miller’s classic ‘In The Mood’ and shared a hug and a kiss at the end of the clip.
Adele Springsteen played a major role in Bruce’s life and even bought him his first guitar when he was seven years old. She was an incredibly important figure in the Springsteen household, providing the family’s main source of income. Adele played a pivotal role in encouraging Bruce to pursue his love of music.
Adele had been unwell for over a decade, suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. Bruce himself had mentioned it onstage at a recent concert in 2021, sharing that while his mother was unable to speak or feed herself, she would still smile and make her love known. Even the music she could still recognise would cause her to move in her seat.
Adele is survived by her three children, her six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and several extended family members. The tributes from fans and those who knew her keep pouring in, with many remembering Adele as “a ray of light” and “the most joyous person I have ever met.” Bruce is currently gearing up for a new tour in the coming months, and while it will surely be bittersweet for him, we can be sure Adele’s spirit and love will be with him always
