Charlie Benante, drummer for the heavy metal band Anthrax, and Carla Harvey, lead singer of the Butcher Babies, recently got engaged during U2’s latest concert at the Sphere in Las Vegas. The couple has been in a relationship for several years and attended the show on Saturday, January 27. Benante shared the happy news on Instagram, posting a series of pictures and videos from the special evening. He captioned the images, “We went to see @u2 and this happened.” One of the photographs shows the couple kissing in the crowd while U2 played their 1988 single, “All I Want Is You.” Harvey also posted the same two pictures on her account, stating, “I woke up in Vegas as the future Mrs. Benante.”
Numerous friends and colleagues congratulated the couple on their engagement, including Heidi Shepherd, the other lead singer of Butcher Babies, Rex Brown, Pantera’s bassist, Gary Holt, who played for Exodus and Slayer, and Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein from the Misfits. According to Consequence, several people sent messages of congratulations to the happy couple.
Anthrax is anticipating the release of a new album this year, and they recently teased a collaboration with the Foo Fighters’ frontman, Dave Grohl. They posted a series of photos with Grohl in the studio and captioned them, “New album is going to be awesome,” along with the hashtag #FooThrax. Benante, meanwhile, is set to embark on a North American headline tour with Pantera.
