D Double E and Fumez The Engineer have linked up to create a new track for the recently released fighting game, Tekken 8. The single is called ‘Tekken 8 (The Anthem)’ and is available to stream on both YouTube and Spotify. D Double E explained that this collaboration was a perfect opportunity to create a song that hits hard like the signature move of one of the game’s characters. Fumez The Engineer echoed D Double E’s excitement for the release of Tekken 8, stating that he couldn’t think of a more perfect collaboration partner than D Double E and that it was a “dream” for him to have worked on the song.
Back in 2010, D Double E released a song titled ‘Street Fighter Riddim’, which was also a tribute to a fighting game franchise, Street Fighter; the song even sampled sound effects from the game. Tekken 8, which was first announced at a 2022 PlayStation State of Play event, was released on 26 January 2022 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. The game was generally well-received across the board and known for making the series more accessible to beginner players, as well as offering a range of features for veteran players. NME reviewed the game, giving it a 4/5 rating and stating that it was a “beginner-friendly entry in a staple fighting game series” that “makes great strides to ensure players of every level can enjoy its stylish, fast-paced matches”.
