The recent collaboration between rock artists Bad Omens and Poppy, titled ‘V.A.N.’, made its live debut in Berlin on January 27th. Poppy, who features on the track and has been opening for Bad Omens on their current European tour, took centre stage during their set to perform the track. ‘V.A.N.’ was teased by Bad Omens on social media prior to its release, and notably features no vocals from the band’s frontman, with Poppy singing the entire track.
The song takes on the persona of a humanoid, who is attempting to escape from a laboratory. Poppy’s menacing vocals give life to the lyrics as she proclaims, “You’ve been running from me, the digital second coming, and I’m here whether you like it or not.” Frontman Noah Sebastien explained that the track originated from the hook “violence against nature,” with the acronym leading them down a rabbit hole of ideas for their forthcoming project called ‘CONCRETE FOREVER.’ The project will be an experimental extension of their 2022 LP ‘THE DEATH OF PEACE OF MIND’, and the soundtrack to their comic book universe ‘Concrete Jungle.’
Bad Omens and Poppy are currently touring Europe together until mid-February, with Poppy then heading on a UK headline tour with Wargasm in support. Bad Omens will head back out on the road in the US in April before playing a series of European festivals, including Download Festival. The full tour dates for both artists can be found on their respective ticketing pages.
Bad Omens recently supported Bring Me The Horizon on their UK and Ireland tour, with Sebastien coming out to perform ‘Antivist’ with the band every night
