A 27-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Kevin Conway, who was fatally shot in his home in west Belfast on 9 January. Conway, 26, was killed in his Rossnareen Park home and his death has been linked to organised crime group The Firm. A 53-year-old man remains in police custody following his arrest on Saturday in connection with the case.
The accused will appear before Belfast Magistrates’ Court on Monday. At the time of his death, Conway was on bail after being charged with the murder of Shane Whitla in Lurgan in January 2023. No further details have been released relating to his alleged involvement with The Firm.
Conway’s killing was one of several violent incidents involving firearms in Northern Ireland this month. On 18 January, shots were fired at an unoccupied parked car in West Belfast, and on 22 January, a man was wounded in a shooting in the city’s Ardoyne area. The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) has said it believes the incidents are linked to ongoing tensions between rival gangs.
