Recently, rumors have been circulating about a falling out between Bobby Berk and his castmate on Queer Eye, Tan France. While the eighth season of the hit Netflix show premiered last January 24th, it was also the final season for Berk as part of the Fab Five, who were rounded out by Antoni Porowski, Jonathan Van Ness, and Karamo Brown. In a Twitter post that he shared back in November, Berk confirmed that his decision to leave the show was a “necessary one.”
Reports from the US Weekly claimed that producers had not asked Berk to return to the show due to scheduling conflicts and loss of interest in filming, which reportedly caused friction between the two castmates. But another source denies that Berk was asked to leave, calling the decision amicable. Speaking to Vanity Fair, Berk said that the rumors were unfounded, stating he contacted Tan to dispel those speculations.
Berk claimed that his feelings towards Tan were personal and not related to the show, clarifying that there was no romantic relationship between the two as speculated. Moreover, he and the rest of the cast signed contracts for a total of seven seasons, but another season was created after the Hollywood strikes, which disrupted production.
Berk mentioned to Vanity Fair that he had planned other projects after the seventh season ended, making it difficult to return to the show. However, the rest of the Fab Five will be coming back for Queer Eye’s ninth season set in Las Vegas.
