Bad Omens and Poppy have teamed up for a new high-energy collaboration called “V.A.N.” The Virginian metalcore band had teased fans about the song days ago when they wiped their social media accounts clean and left only snippets featuring Poppy. The duo has now unveiled their new track alongside a complementary music video.
Poppy takes on the persona of a humanoid entity in “V.A.N.” as she tries to break out of a lab, singing menacingly, “You’ve been running from me, the digital second coming / And I’m here whether you like it or not.” Bad Omens’ lead singer, Noah Sebastien, says that the song began as an acronym after they discovered the acronym for “Violence Against Nature.” The lyrics, written from the viewpoint of rogue artificial intelligence, sprouted from there, he says.
The new track acts as a teaser for Bad Omens’ upcoming project ‘CONCRETE FOREVER’, also known as ‘CONCRETE JUNGLE OST.’ This project is an experimental extension of Bad Omens’ 2022 album ‘THE DEATH OF PEACE OF MIND’ and is also the soundtrack to the band’s comic book universe ‘Concrete Jungle.’
The duo will go on tour throughout Europe and America shortly, with their first tour date on January 27th. Catch all the tour dates below and get any remaining concert tickets for US shows here and UK shows here.
Bad Omens’ previous collection of music was in 2022 with ‘THE DEATH OF PEACE OF MIND,’ which included “Just Pretend,” their most successful track to-date
