Pop superstar Dua Lipa has recently announced that her new single, entitled ‘Training Season,’ will be coming out soon. Fans are able to pre-order or pre-save the upbeat track which is set to be released on February 15th. Notably, it will be available in various formats such as limited edition 7” vinyl, a CD, and a cassette tape.
The singer also shared a preview of the track on her TikTok account where she is seen singling along to the lyrics while dancing in a car. The lyrics go, “I need someone to hold me close/deeper than I’ve ever known/whose love feels like a rodeo/knows just how to take control/He’s straight talking to my soul/conversation overload/got me feeling vertigo.”
Dua Lipa explains that she drew inspiration from going through a series of bad dates, leading her to remark that “Training Season is over.” At the time, she was with Caroline Ailin and Tobias Jesso Jr. who both helped her come up with the idea for the song. While the song perhaps is about the feeling of being done with dating, it is also about her own growth and development as a person.
Both “Training Season” and “Houdini,” which was released in 2023, are set to be included in Dua Lipa’s forthcoming album, which does not yet have an official name. Key collaborators on this album include Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker, Caroline Ailin, and Tobias Jesso Jr. Danny L. Harle, another collaborator, speaks of how many of the songs were written during fortunate moments of chaos that gave Dua Lipa “the lightness and optimism of whatever the outcome may be.”
The ‘Future Nostalgia’ artist says that the new album will reflect a bit more of her raw feelings. “I want to capture the essence of youth and freedom and having fun and just letting things happen, whether it’s good or bad. You can’t change it. You just have to roll with the punches of whatever’s happening in your life,” she elaborates.
With three nominations for the 2024 BRIT Awards, including Artist of the Year, Best Pop Act, and Song of the Year for “Dance The Night,” fans of Dua Lipa have much to look forward to in the coming months. She will also be performing at the Grammys on February 4th
