Comedian Ayo Edebiri, who stars in “The Bear,” is set to make her debut hosting “Saturday Night Live” on February 3, with Jennifer Lopez as the show’s musical guest. Lopez, who has previously made four appearances on the sketch show, is releasing a new album titled “This Is Me… Now” on February 16. Edebiri won the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her role in “The Bear” and also won Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy at the Golden Globes earlier in the year. “The Bear” won six Emmys overall, including for Outstanding Comedy Series.
Although this will be Edebiri’s first time hosting “Saturday Night Live,” she has starred in other shows like “Bottoms” and worked as a writer on “Big Mouth” and “Dickinson.” The upcoming episode also marks a triumphant return for Lopez, who last appeared on the show in 2019 when she was promoting her film “Hustlers.”
Lauded as the best television series of 2023 by NME, “The Bear” follows the trials and tribulations of a struggling restaurant as it deals with uncooperative staff, difficult customers, and other drama. NME said that “no other series has since proved better at showing the shit endlessly hitting the fan, but it was the flashbacks, side-steps and breath-catching across these 10 perfect episodes that charred, sliced and tenderized harder than any of the kitchen chaos.”
Edebiri’s foray into hosting “Saturday Night Live” marks yet another milestone in a successful career that’s seen her win awards and accolades for her work in television and film. With Lopez as the musical guest and Edebiri at the helm, fans of the long-running comedy show can expect a night of laughs and entertainment when the episode airs on February 3
