Festival Republic, the organizer of Reading and Leeds festivals, has proposed a new three-day festival in Luton which would take place across the May bank holiday weekend. The festival would be held at Stockton Park, a 100-hectare site, pending approval of the applied premises license requested by Melvin Benn, the managing director of Festival Republic, from the Luton Borough Council. In addition to alcoholic beverage sales, the license would also authorize a noise hotline, noise level monitoring, and regular staff patrols throughout the event, as stated in the proposal documents.
Melvin Benn has also listed funfair and sponsor activities for the festival, along with sound system checks before the entertainment commences each day. Despite a scheduled town hall meeting yesterday to discuss the application, the outcome has yet to be disclosed, according to Luton Today.
Festival Republic has previously announced headliners for reading and Leeds festivals in 2024, including performers such as Laney Del Rey, Blink-182, Liam Gallagher, Catfish and the Bottlemen, Raye, Skrillex, and Digga D. The company is also set to host Michael Bibi’s One Life Event and Skepta’s debut festival, Big Smoke Festival.
Requests for a festival license update from Luton borough council have been sent to Mixmag, but no response has been received at this time. Becky Buckle, Mixmag’s Multimedia Editor, wrote the article
