False Idols, Tricky’s record label, has released a posthumous album from legendary reggae innovator Lee “Scratch” Perry, titled “King Perry”. The album, featuring collaborations with Greentea Peng, Tricky, and Shaun Ryder of Happy Mondays, marks Perry’s final release before his death in August 2021. The album was entirely written, produced, and recorded alongside GRAMMY-nominated producer Daniel Boyle, and includes a closing track titled “Goodbye”, Perry’s last-ever recorded vocal performance.

The first single from “King Perry” is titled “Green Banana”, a joint release with Happy Mondays’ Shaun Ryder that was recorded before Perry’s death in 2021. Bristol duo Dubkasm has provided a remix of the track that accompanies its release on False Idols. The album was released by the label on February 2, 2022.
Celebrating the late dub icon, a documentary titled “The Upsetter: The Life & Music of Lee “Scratch” Perry” was released via the Criterion Channel in 2022. The documentary includes archival footage, interviews, and discussion of Perry’s life and musical legacy.
