Saoirse Ronan has disclosed the part that she was cast for in the famous toy franchise adaptation, Barbie. The film, released in 2020, enjoyed great box office success and became the highest-grossing movie of the year. Ronan had previously worked with the director of the film, Greta Gerwig, on her previous films Little Women and Lady Bird. Speaking to Variety, the actress responded to Timothée Chalamet’s statement that he and Ronan had been offered cameos in the movie that never materialised. Ronan stated that she was supposed to portray a Weird Barbie alongside Kate McKinnon. Ronan had a scene which did not make it into the movie, where she would have portrayed a strange individual who spoke to herself and had her pet dog with her always.
Chalamet himself spoke last month regarding his planned role, stating that he had no clue what it was going to be, but it would have been among the rejected Kens or Barbies. Another famous personality lined up for a Barbie appearance was Dan Levy, who revealed that he was offered a role as Ken but had to turn it down due to scheduling issues. Levy asserted that, though he tried, he was technically unavailable to do it, and that was a difficult day for him.
