The recent deaths of four people in Costessey near Norwich have been identified as stab wounds, according to Norfolk Police. The incident was reported when police received a 999 call and subsequently discovered the four individuals deceased at a property on Allan Bedford Crescent. The deceased have been identified as Bartlomiej Kuczynski, a 36-year-old woman, and two children.
Post-mortem examinations were carried out on Mr Kuczynski and the woman, during which it was determined that the woman’s cause of death was stab wounds to the neck and Mr Kuczynski’s death resulted from a single stab wound to the neck. Post-mortem examinations for the two girls will be conducted on Wednesday.
Police reported that they were not looking for anyone else for in relation to the deaths and that a police cordon would continue to be in place at the scene with officers remaining in the area. The investigation has been referred to the Independent Office of Police Conduct (IOPC) due to police contact at the address on 14 December, which was related to a missing person enquiry.
Norfolk Police confirmed self-referring to the IOPC for the second time due to the department not deploying officers regarding a 999 call made at 06:00 by a man who was at the address, prior to the discovery of the deceased individuals being reported. Det Ch Insp Chris Burgess said regarding the situation, “This latest information will only add to the distress and shock felt by members of the local community and it’s why, from the outset, we’ve been determined to carry out detailed and methodical enquiries to make sure we fully understand how this incident has happened.
