Llanelli attempted kidnap: Man tried to drag woman into car – report

Police are investigating an attempted kidnapping after a man tried to drag a woman into a car in Llanelli, Carmarthenshire. The woman was approached by the man in a dark red or burgundy car as she left the British Royal Legion pub on Tan Y Graig Road. The man, who had dark hair and an accent that did not sound local, asked her to get into the car, but when she refused, he tried to drag her in. The woman managed to escape and seek refuge in a nearby house unharmed but shaken.

According to Dyfed-Powys Police, the car drove along Hendre Road from Tan Y Graig Road. As such, they are urging local residents and businesses to review their surveillance footage in search of sightings of the car. The police have also encouraged drivers with dashcams who were in the area at the time to contact them with any potential information. They have described the car the suspect used as having a registration number starting with DV64 or DC64.

The police have asked people and businesses with CCTV and doorbell footage that may have recorded the suspect or the car’s registration to come forward. Detective Inspector Richard Lewis said: “We know this location is popular as there are multiple businesses on Tan Y Graig Road. So, we are asking anyone who saw the car or anything unusual that may help share information with us.”

According to police, the motive behind the attempted kidnapping is unknown, but they are treating it as an isolated incident and do not believe there is any wider risk to the general public
