Dakota Johnson says filming on ‘Madame Web’ was “absolutely psychotic”

Dakota Johnson recently shared her thoughts on acting in the upcoming film Madame Web, calling the experience “absolutely psychotic.” The movie is the fourth installment in the Sony Spider-Man Universe and is based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. In addition to Johnson, the film stars Sydney Sweeney, Emma Roberts, and Adam Scott. The trailer was released in November and the movie is scheduled to be released in theaters on February 14.

Madame Web is a highly CGI-laden production and Johnson, who plays Cassandra Webb, a paramedic with the ability to see into the future, opened up in a recent interview about the technical difficulties of performing in such an effects-heavy production. “I’ve never really done a movie where you are on a blue screen, and there’s fake explosions going off, and someone’s going, ‘Explosion!’ and you act like there’s an explosion. That to me was absolutely psychotic,” said Johnson.

However, despite the challenges, Johnson expressed her trust in director SJ Clarkson and praised her hard work. She added, “She works so hard, and she has not taken her eyes off this movie since we started.”

Sweeney, who plays Julia Carpenter in the film, also shared her excitement at working with Johnson. “I was a little nervous. I have to say – I snuck into Fifty Shades of Grey in high school. My parents didn’t let me watch it and I watched it. So I’m a huge fan of her. She’s so hot,” said Sweeney in an interview in 2022.

Madame Web centers around Cassandra Webb and her ability to see into the future. She enlists the help of a group of young women, including Julia Carpenter, as she navigates her newfound powers. The movie is directed by SJ Clarkson and written by Jessica Jones writer Claire Parker
