HBO Max has confirmed that there will not be a third season of The Flight Attendant. The show, which is a comedy-drama-thriller, was developed by Steve Yockey and is based on Chris Bohjalian’s novel of the same name. The main character, Cassie Bowden, is played by Kaley Cuoco. She’s an alcoholic flight attendant who hooks up with passengers after flights. One morning, she wakes up to discover a dead body next to her. In the second season, Sharon Stone joins the cast as Cassie’s estranged mother, Lisa Bowden.
Cuoco stated, “What started out as an attention-grabbing book cover quickly evolved into an extraordinary flight of a lifetime. I always envisioned TFA as a limited series and thanks to an incredible creative team, we were able to deliver two thrilling seasons. Personally, playing Cassie has been a dream come true, and I am so grateful for everyone who played a part in bringing this extremely original series to life.”
In the first season, Cuoco was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, and the show was nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series. Cuoco was also nominated at the Golden Globes for her performance in both seasons. NME gave the first season a two-star review stating that Cuoco was the best thing about the show, but it still came over as plain infuriating.
It is yet unclear why The Flight Attendant will not be returning for another season. Fans of the show are sure to be disappointed by the news, especially after the cliffhanger ending of the second season. However, Cuoco has said that she has enjoyed playing Cassie and is grateful for the opportunity to take on such an original role
