The annual music festival and conference held in Wrexham, FOCUS Wales, has unveiled the first wave of live acts for 2024, including the likes of Spiritualized, The Mysterines, and Benefits. The festival, now in its 14th year, will run from May 9 to 11, and the list includes over 70 live acts. Those keen to catch them live can purchase tickets for the festival from the FOCUS Wales website.
FOCUS Wales aims to showcase more Welsh artists than any other regular event and benefits from the sponsorship of Creative Wales, a Welsh government agency that supports creative industries within the country. Alongside the festival, the event also offers an extensive conference that culminates in meetings with major organizations such as PRS For Music, the PRS Foundation, the British Council and the Musicians Union.
Also appearing in the festival lineup are bands like Deerhoof, Skinny Pelembe, Snapped Ankles, Melin Melyn, Flamingods, The Royston Club, and Adwaith. Spiritualized released their ninth studio album – Everything Was Beautiful – in 2022, whilst The Mysterines’ Reeling was named one of the best debuts of 2022. Benefits, on the other hand, shared a powerful statement in November 2023 during the ongoing Israel-Palestine war.
The aforementioned bands have all received impressive reviews recently, particularly Spiritualized’s most recent release. In a review by NME, the four-star album probes into experimental sounds and shimmers with dissonant chord changes. Similarly, The Mysterines’ debut album grabbed the attention of fans and received numerous four-star reviews, which applauded the band’s aggressive sound.
To conclude, attendees can expect an unforgettable experience that promises an extensive list of exciting and fresh acts that will undoubtedly keep them on the edge of their seats. Whether you’re into pop, rock, or folk, there is something available for everyone
