Jlin – also known as Jerrilynn Patton – has given fans a teaser of her upcoming album, ‘Akoma,’ which will be released on the Planet Mu label in March of this year. The album will contain 11 tracks, with collaborative input from several artists such as Björk, the Kronos Quartet, and Philip Glass. The release date for ‘Akoma’ is set for the 22nd of March 2022.
The album’s lead single, ‘The Precision Of Infinity’ featuring Philip Glass, was released today as a sample of what fans can expect from the producer’s fourth studio album. Jlin masterfully combines Glass’s pianowork with mutated bass and a four-to-the-floor beat. It’s an impressive fusion that’s worth a listen.
Jlin’s latest full-length album is ‘Autobiography (Music from Wayne McGregor’s Autobiography)’, which was released in 2018 and served as a soundtrack for her collaboration with choreographer Wayne McGregor at Krakow’s experimental festival Unsound. In 2023, Jlin was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize in Music for ‘Perspective,’ her composition for Third Coast Percussion.
The producer surprised fans with the announcement of the release of her third album ‘Akoma’ on March 22nd, 2022, through an Instagram post. Fans have been eagerly looking forward to hearing new music from the accomplished composer and producer, and this album is sure to be a satisfying musical journey
