A man who worked as a production assistant on the HBO Max show Search Party has made accusations of sexual assault against showrunner Charles Rogers. Evan Schwartz has alleged that Rogers sexually assaulted him and it is also suggested he was drugged. Schwartz has revealed that the incident took place in 2020. However, a previous internal inquiry into the same allegations cleared Rogers. A source close to Rogers has said the investigation thoroughly examined the situation and found no evidence of any wrongdoing.
Schwartz also claims to have suffered psychological damage since the alleged incident. During early January 2024, he sent out messages on social media about the alleged attack. A photo of Rogers was also published alongside a statement on Twitter with a caption stating that Rogers took the picture the day after sexually assaulting him. According to Schwartz, Rogers told him he had a lawyer on standby in case anyone made a sexual assault claim against him at the time.
Schwartz has also alleged that he does not remember falling asleep after the incident. Furthermore, he added that Rogers was his boss as he was a writer and director on the show. Additionally, Schwartz stated that Rogers handed him a drink shortly before they left the party where the alleged assault occurred. Schwartz has indicated that he plans to provide more details on the situation, including his “psychotic episode.”
Charles Rogers has not yet responded directly to the allegations made by Schwartz
