After 16 years of running its eponymous mix series, Fact Magazine has announced that its pioneering music program will no longer continue in its present format. The announcement comes via a statement on their final mix by DJ, producer, composer and designer Tati au Miel. The statement thanks all artists that have contributed to the platform in the past and insists that Fact will continue to promote the future of electronic music and art going forward. The vast majority of all the mixes Fact has ever featured on their site will still be available on Mixcloud and Soundcloud as an archive.
In 2008, Fact launched their mix series with Count & Sinden’s “Mix 01”. Since then, they have hosted mixes from a variety of electronic music artists, such as Slowdive, Autechre, Ellen Allien, Bored Lord, RP Boo, and more. Tati au Miel’s mix marks Fact’s 940th and final mix in the series.
Tati au Miel talks about their unique position as both queer and trans and how this shapes their music and artistic output. They believe that references in their art to the queer and trans community and gender-fluid Black people bring a lot of positivity to their personal experience. The publication states that with this mix, Fact is ticking off everything that they held dearest ever since the series began.
Fans of the Fact mix series have expressed their disappointment at the news on social media, with many sharing personal anecdotes about how the mixes were fundamental to their education of dance music. However, Fact promises to continue promoting electronic music and art in the future, and the archive of mixes will still be made available to its listeners.
