Actress Lynne Marta, who is best known for her roles in Joe Kidd, Footloose and Love, American Style, has died aged 78. She passed away on January 11 at her home in Los Angeles, following a period of treatment for cancer. Chris Saint-Hilaire, a friend of Marta’s confirmed her death to The Hollywood Reporter.
The New-Jersey born actor was born on October 30, 1945 and was the youngest of two daughters. She began her career on The Lloyd Thaxton Show before landing roles on Gidgit and The Monkees. Marta later became known for her recurring role on Love, American Style.
Marta made her cinematic breakthrough in 1972 when she appeared in John Sturgess’ Joe Kidd. Her performance in the movie won critical praise. In television, Marta appeared in a number of popular titles including Starsky & Hutch, Charlie’s Angels, Columbo and Law & Order, as well as featuring on soap operas Passions, The Young and the Restless and Days of Our Lives.
Marta’s death has been marked by several tributes on social media but there are no details about the funeral arrangements yet
