Free ‘Total War: Pharaoh’ DLC ‘High Tide’ releases next week

Total War: Pharaoh players can expect a new downloadable content (DLC) update called High Tide, which features a free update to compensate for any inconveniences and technical issues. The update allows players to choose to play as The Sea Peoples, a faction that needs to continuously win battles to survive.

The High Tide DLC also introduces two new factions to the game, the Sherden and the Peleset. The Sherden utilize the new Spoils of War mechanic, which rewards them additional resources such as Eminence, enabling them to create new camps to strengthen their armies. The Sherden gets access to brand new units such as Harpooners and Sherden Archers which come equipped with sulphur-tipped arrows that sets enemies alight.

For those who join the Peleset faction, they get to take over cities on the campaign map and can pitch camp. They will have access to new units such as the Oxen Cart, Peleset Marines, and the fast-moving Peleset Raiders.

Originally planned as a paid expansion before developer Creative Assembly and Sega decided to reduce the price of the game in December 2023. As a direct result of this, Creative Assembly opted to release the first paid DLC in 2024 as a “free update for everyone who owns the game”.

While there may be no definite plans yet regarding what comes next for Total War: Pharaoh, players should expect more updates in the future as the developer has indicated that they are working on more ambitious updates.
