Music giants The Dandy Warhols have just released their new single ‘Dancing With Myself’. They collaborated with Frank Black, of Pixies fame, for the song. This is part of their upcoming album titled ‘Rockmaker’. It’s the twelfth album from the band and will be available via Sunset Blvd. Records from 15 March. You can pre-order it from this website.
The title for the song started with a riff. Courtney Taylor-Taylor says it either sounded like Misfits or Danzig, and then they slowed it down. The play on words “Dancing with Myself” became the song’s working title. Despite considering a name change, they couldn’t get past “Danzig with Myself” – as Taylor-Taylor said, what could be a cooler name?
Moreover, the single features Frank Black, who happened to be in Zurich when Courtney Taylor-Taylor contacted him. The Dandy Warhols’ frontman says he asked Black to play on their record after organising several interesting museum tours for him and his family. You can listen to the new single here.
The album’s music is very specific. According to Taylor-Taylor, “Sometimes we have a very focused idea of what we want. It’s generally what we want somebody else to make but since they never do, we have to. It has a very specific sound. There aren’t a lot of heavy guitar records currently coming out that we like, so that was the impetus for Rockmaker.” The single and album will provide listeners with a new heavy sound that the band likes, something that has been missing in the music industry lately.
Lastly, in the piece, Pixies announced details of a new live concert tour that includes a stop in the UK and Europe. The tour starts in Dublin’s 3Olympia Theatre from March 8 to March 10, where the group will play three consecutive dates. The four-piece will also perform in Manchester’s Albert Hall between March 12 to March 14, and then three nights in London’s O2 Forum Kentish Town between March 16 to March 18. The UK shows will be followed by three nights in both Amsterdam (March 20-22) and Paris (March 25-27). Tickets for all dates are available from here
