Details of Burial’s latest 12″ release on XL Recordings have been confirmed after speculation earlier this month. The record, entitled “Dreamfear” will have a double-tracker with a title track and “The Boy Who Never Turned Up” on the B-side. The release will come out on February 9th via the label.
Phonica Records made very limited white label copies available with customers being restricted to one per purchase when listings for the new record were announced. This is Burial’s first track on the label in 19 years after releasing a string of recent music on Kode9’s imprint.
Burial’s previous release was in July of 2023 when he collaborated with Kode9 on “Infirmary/Unknown Summer,” a surprise collaboration titled on Fabric Originals, a new imprint from the London institution. “Infirmary/Unknown Summer” was released both digitally and on a limited edition vinyl in clear, black, and silver.
XL Recordings released a 14-second snippet of a track last month that Burial is suspected to have produced. The clip revealed a new club-focused sound familiar to his classic productions, a change-up from his recent ambient, stripped-back releases.
Supporters who yearn for a new selection of music from the elusive Burial will welcome the news of this new release
