Sid Wilson, the turntablist for Slipknot, has teased fans with a new look and a new era for the band. Wilson posted a photo on Instagram of himself holding an older mask while sporting new headgear that looks like a dark helmet. He captioned the post, “Say goodbye to this guy and get ready for the new look.”

However, some fans who only skimmed through the post became alarmed, mistakenly believing that Wilson was leaving the band. This is likely due to the recent departures of Craig Jones and longtime drummer Jay Weinberg. Slipknot released a statement about Weinberg’s departure, stating that the band “were intent on evolving” and that his departure was a “creative decision” by the collective. Weinberg himself wrote a personal statement expressing his heartbreak at the decision.

Slipknot founding member Shawn “Clown” Crahan spoke to NME in December about the band’s current state and their plans for 2024. Crahan stated that they are aiming to “[harness] the energy” of late members Paul Gray and Joey Jordison ahead of their upcoming UK and European tour celebrating the 25th anniversary of their self-titled debut album.
