Blondie announce another summer 2024 show at Halifax Piece Hall due to phenomenal demand

Halifax Piece Hall is now set to host a second show by popular US new wave band, Blondie, this summer after fans snapped up tickets for their first outdoor show at the venue on Sunday, June 9. Overwhelming demand for the band’s concert prompted organizers to add an extra date on Friday, June 7, 2024, allowing more fans to be part of the open-air concert experience. Tickets for the extra show go on sale Friday, January 19, at 9:00 AM GMT or at 9:00 AM GMT Tuesday, January 16, for the pre-sale. Tickets can be bought at Ticketmaster UK.

The group has announced that it will also be performing at the very first Plymouth Summer Sessions alongside Tom Jones, Bryan Adams, Madness, and Sting. Additionally, the band will be headlining California’s Cruel World Festival alongside Interpol and Duran Duran. Last year, at the Glastonbury Festival, Blondie played a hit-packed set, honoring Donna Summer and the Sex Pistols. Former Sex Pistol Glenn Matlock joined the group on bass. They worked together after it was announced that Matlock would appear on Blondie’s new album – a follow-up to 2017’s “Pollinator.”

In a backstage interview with NME, Matlock spoke of his first meeting with Blondie, saying, “Blondie turned up as a band, and I think that’s when I met Clem [Burke] and Debbie [Harry] for the first time. What I thought was quite sweet about them was that when bands go on tour and have a night off, everyone tends to filter off somewhere – but they always seemed to be out and about as a band. I thought that was good.” Their collaboration came after Mattlock was announced to play bass on Blondie’s new album. Blondie co-founder and guitarist Chris Stein revealed last November that it is doubtful that he will play with the band again due to ongoing health issues.

Fans of the legendary band, known for hits including “Call Me,” “Heart of Glass,” and “The Tide Is High,” will now have the opportunity to experience their music mixing with the summer breeze twice at Halifax Piece Hall. With their highly anticipated concerts being a highlight on everyone’s calendar, fans can expect an electrifying live performance that is sure to captivate and thrill them
