South Liverpool is about to welcome the city’s second Family Hub Network, beginning next Monday. The second out of five hubs, it will be officially launched at Speke Children’s Centre, Conleach Road, on 20 November. The new hub will build on the success of the first Family Hub Network, launched in July earlier this year at Clubmoor and Ellergreen Children’s Centre. Three other centres Belle Vale, Hunts Cross and Garston will also act as interconnector sites to the hub serving several wards, including Speke, Garston, Grassendale and Cressington, Springwood, Much Woolton and Hunts Cross, and Belle Vale.
These hubs are not just for babies and young adults under 19 years of age but rather also offer assistance to the guardians and adults with debts, housing issues, and counselling and digital assistance to make use of online services. Moreover, if young adults require extra aid due to their disabilities, they can receive assistance up to the age of 25 years.
Families have been invited to attend the opening ceremony of the Family Hub Network on 20 November from 10:30 am to 1 pm. There will be several activities and entertainment for the guests, including Mickey and Minnie Mouse, marshmallow toasting with the Forest School, Tiny Tasters Cooking, a magician, and sensory time for babies.
The Department for Education has funded The Family Hub model, and Liverpool City Council aims to offer access to these programs to all families in the city. The council has already secured £4m funding from the government for the project implementation. The partners, including NHS, have also shown their support to provide a wide range of joint services to the families of the community through these hubs
