Residents of Liverpool can take advantage of a free Winter Survival Fuel Poverty awareness day at Radio Merseyside on Hanover Street on 30 November. The three hour event offers a range of advice and support for vulnerable locals on topics such as health and wellbeing, fuel poverty, staying warm and energy efficiency. Information about grants and claiming benefits will also be available.
The event will highlight eligibility for the Household Support Fund, which offers support to families with children, those on a low income, elderly people, and those living with disabilities. Those attending can apply for winter warmer packs containing blankets, hot water bottles, gloves, scarf, grip socks, and thermal underwear.
Larger energy efficiency improvements will also be on offer, including replacement boilers, repairs, draught excluders, and radiator reflectors. However, eligibility for these schemes will be dependent on criteria being met, including a home visit and survey, and living in the Liverpool City Council area.
Attendees will be given free radiator keys while the Healthy Homes Programme team, National Energy Advice, Citizen’s Advice, Private Sector Housing team, Liverpool Citizen Support Service, and Benefit Maximisation Service Energy Project Plus will also be in attendance on the day
