Edinburgh police are searching for the driver of a red car following a shooting at a pub in Edinburgh. The event occurred on Hogmanay and left a 38-year-old man dead and a 39-year-old injured. Detectives think that the driver of a red Hyundai Tucson pulled in West Granton Road, got out of the vehicle and shot the men before driving off towards Leith. The force also stated that the car had a false registration plate.
The incident is being treated as murder and is an isolated, targeted attack, according to Police Scotland. The investigation is underway to identify those responsible, with officers appealing for any information relating to the suspect vehicle and its movements before and after the attack.
The police have set up an online portal for members of the public to send information directly to the police. Meanwhile, the area outside the Anchor Inn has been sealed off and road closures on West Granton Road and Granton Crescent remain in place. Furthermore, extra patrols are being carried out to assure the public’s safety. Emergency services were immediately called to the scene outside the Anchor Inn shortly before midnight, and the two injured men were then taken to hospital. Shortly after, the 38-year-old was pronounced dead, and a 39-year-old remains in a serious but stable condition
