Dave Freeman spent about 20 years catering for some of the world’s top drivers as an ex-Formula One chef. During his time, he worked for teams such as BAR, Brawn, Force India, Jordan, McLaren, Red Bull, Toro Rosso, and Tyrrell. Freeman was born in Harlow, Essex, but grew up in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset. He served for 13 years in the Army, which Freeman feels provided him with excellent training since “you’ve got to think on your feet.”
In the late 1990s, Freeman’s life changed when he began working with Honda, catering to its needs while racing across several countries from Japan to Brazil. The catering company Freeman worked for spent time in Japan, where he discovered his talent for making sushi. This newfound skill made him a hit with drivers like Juan Pablo Montoya, who enjoyed California rolls, and seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher, who enjoyed Freeman’s sushi.
