A 22-year-old woman died of stab wounds in London on Christmas Eve and a 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of murder. Police received reports of the incident just after 10 pm and rushed to Spenlow House, located on Jamaica Road in Bermondsey. Paramedics and London’s Air Ambulance arrived soon after them to provide medical care but unfortunately, the woman passed away on the scene. The suspect was later arrested nearby and is currently in custody at a South London police station.
The Metropolitan Police said that the victim and the suspect knew each other and the woman’s family has been notified of the incident. Ch Supt Seb Adjei-Addoh, local policing commander for Southwark, expressed his condolences to the victim’s family and friends. He also emphasized that the tragedy would have a significant impact on the wider community and there would be additional patrols in the area in the coming days to reassure them. Meanwhile, Det Ch Insp Brian Howie has urged anyone with information relevant to the investigation to come forward immediately.
